Is it really so difficult for sellers to actually list items truthfully??

I've been looking for some PJ's for DD 2.6mths for a while so had a look on ebay and saw an ad for 8 pairs of girls pj's size 2-3yrs. description said that they were mix and match used but in good clean condition.

They have arrived today and this is what I received.

4 pairs of PJ's in size 2-3yrs one pair has a hole in the neck one pair has a stain....only a small stain but not in item description.

1 pair of 18-24mth and 1 pair of 3-4yrs and a random pair of bottoms.

I paid £12 including postage and it just annoys me so much. I've sold plenty of stuff on ebay and only ever send the very best items the rest goes either to charity or in the bin.

I hate confrontation so probably won't email her and I won't leave feedback. But I don't think i'll bother buying from ebay again.

Oh that is crap.

I feel the same about ebay these days. It's really totally hit and miss. Some things are great, some are very shite indeed.

I would complain or I'd just seethe for weeks!

It isn't worth the emotional rollercoaster is what I mean - life is so much nicer now I've stopped buying from ebay.

Narketta · 25/09/2010 10:44

I wish i'd just gone and bought her some new ones now!
Oh well thats what happens when you try to save youself a few quid. If I'd sent a bundle of clothes out like that I would feel ashamed and fully expect an abusive email but it seems some sellers just don't care

Oh dear - I've only started using e-bay recently and I've been delighted. I've bought several mini boden items and everything's been in great condition.

I think you should e-mail her actually - she's only sent 7 items! You don't have to be nasty - just say you are disappointed in the budle and could she list more accurately in future? You can leave feedback too - and you should, it's not fair on anyone else who buys from her if you dont.

Sorry op should have said 2 pairs of 18-24mths but still pretty rubbish considering the listing stated 8 pairs of 2-3 yrs.

That really is rubbish and I would leave feedback for sure..it's important that another person isn't ripped off by this seller.
The seller can't give you a negative anyway, though they can put negative text within a positive rating IYKWIM.

I had a bad experience earlier this year - complete cock up by the seller. So I left an honest negative explaining my experience. However, the seller left a negative text for me on my feedback and it was actually a bit nasty - said it all about the seller really!

I emailed ebay to report it and within a few hours that negative text was removed by them as to leave a negative within a positive rating is against ebay rules.

Have to say that I felt much happier about the whole thing having taking some action...it would have bugged me if I hadn't. Am v reluctant to buy stuff on ebay now and never buy from anyone with any negatives.

You see I always check a sellers ratings before I buy and this particular seller has 100%. I think i'll just stick with selling in the future.

I only ever buy things with really clear pictures these days, and often ask seller lots of questions. It annoys the hell out of me though, as as a seller I would never sell anything less than immaculate without detailing and showing a picture, or listing as good quality playwear IYSWIm

Narketta · 25/09/2010 11:02

TBH if the postage wasn't so expensive i'd send them back to her.

That's terrible, I bought loads of PJS for 8yo DD quite recently and other than one item having a hint of cigarette smell I'm very pleased with them all.

EldonAve · 25/09/2010 15:23

email and complain

and leave negative feedback otherwise other people will buy similar rubbish from the seller

I sell on ebay. Not masses but a steady trickle. The situation you outline really REALLY annoys me. I list items truthfully. All scuffs, stains, marks are listed - tbh, I usually only list items which are in excellent condition and do not show signs of wear. Or new.

I think that people who lie on ebay, and that is what they are doing, should be brought up on it. Have a good think - if you bought something in the shop and took it home to find a problem wouldn't you take it back? Just because you have purchased on ebay doesn't mean the description shouldn't be correct. Email her and tell her you think she may have sent the wrong bundle as the collection is a bit random and items are considerably more worn that described. Try and word it so that it reads as if she might have made a mistake. If she gets shirty or is dismissive then take it up with ebay as a complaint. Too many people do this and we all tend to let it go.

As an aside - my sister once bought a pair of maharishi trousers on ebay and when they arrived they were obviously fake. She got her money back because she was prepared to complain and follow it up.

Be strong, good luck
