Changing mind - what are the rules?

Bought something late last night and added on a wipe-out marker pen (hit the commit to buy button) and then changed my mind as the pen looked too fat to fit into a slot. I deleted it before paying and proceeded to pay for the original item only. Am I obliged to pay for the pen?

If you clicked on the commit to pay button, then yes you are committed to pay.

On your my ebay page, does it say you need to pay for an item?

My ebay does list the item as requiring payment. It does not cost a lot but the point would be useful for future. Have not the stomach at the moment for reading fine print.

You could try contacting the seller to see if they will mutually agree to cancel transaction.

If it was a Buy It Now listing from a business seller, then you have the Distance Selling Regs to fall back on, which gives you a right to cancel within 7 days - and obviously it is easier all round if it is cancelled before it is dispatched.

Explain to the seller, and let them know you will agree to a mutual cancellation - these can often appear as unpaid item disputes, but they have not detrimental effect on either buyer or seller.

Thank you
