Buy it now - do you ever add it on request?

I have a few things for sale on ebay (auctions) and as usual someone has asked if I have a buy it now price for a pushchair. I have an idea of what I'd like to get for it.

Have you ever added a buy it now? Did the person who asked for it actually buy it? Or did you do it outside ebay etc?

I'm not sure what to do.

I have done it for smaller items that I just wanted to get rid of (baby bottles, toys etc) and the would be buyer offered a fair price.

I have declined for larger or popular items with loads of watchers.

So the answer to your first question is: yes. The answer to the second question is also yes. And the answer to the third question is that in the 4 transactions I completed in this way, 2 were within ebay rules (buyer paid with paypal) and the other 2 were outside of ebay (buyer collected and paid in cash).

If you are considering the BIN, why not send her a proposed price of what you'd like to get for it plus a bit more and see what she says???

Thanks. Had 2 people asking now, so I've sent them both a figure to see what they think.

When someone asked me for one, I asked her what she was prepared to pay, and it was so far above what I expected and would have quoted her that I did it straight away! I would always ask them what they are prepared to pay as otherwise you may be doing yourself out of money!

From my experience, people ask for BIN's for two reasons - they urgently need the exact item you have on auction and there are no others listed, or they know it is worth a lot more than you have it listed for or described as.

If you have picked up a lot of watchers early on and taken two BIN offers, then it is normally prudent to let the auction run, and usually a bidding war will break out, puching the final price higher than you would expect.

Neither of the 2 people asking for BIN have replied. I have 28 watchers, no bids yet but there's still a few days left. I sometimes think the BIN prices are a bit steep for pushchairs and often think 'you'd be lucky'.

I'm happy now to just let it run.

i've given a BIN price for a number of items.
they've always bought at the price i stipulated so quite lucky i guess!

a 2 piece designer maternity outfit
designer dress
baby changing bag

i did give a BIN for a box of teats, buyer thought it was too high and backed off, normal bidding commended and someone else bid even more than the BIN price hurrah!
