Any practical tips for managing overeating and binge eating habits

Does anyone have any tips for beating overeating. Feel like I’ve tried everything (including therapy) and nothing has worked. I have a healthy BMI but my diet is shockingly bad, I live on sugar, eat when I’m full and feel utterly out of control when I’m in binge mode - I just can’t stop. I’m worried about my health but even that fear isn’t enough to make me change. Feel utterly defeated. Grateful for any tips of advice. Thank you.

I struggle with this too and have my whole life. Also healthy weight. Currently in therapy due to bereavement and have finally been honest about my eating.
What works for me is having 3 meals a day and having something prepared in advance for lunch and dinner. If not I'll just grab stuff.
If I can do it before my brain takes over - have a bath, shower, change the bed, hoover. Anything to break that moment Honestly this is hard for me to implement but I know 4pm and late evening is a risky time for me.
My therapist suggested imagining someone you admire, and find inspiring ,watching you when you are eating. Haven't tried it yet as I can't think of anyone that doesn't feel absurd.
Take B vitamins. Make breakfast count - when I have greek yoghurt, fruit, chia seeds and a few nuts at least I started the day well.
I'll be following this thread and hope others can come across with better advice.

I'm following as this is a problem for my adult son and I don't know how to help him. He is seriously overweight and I am so worried about his health. He is a binge/comfort eater and his diet is so bad. He does live at home and generally we have healthy meals but it's what he eats in between or if he's out that is so bad. He won't try therapy.

I’ve suffered from this all my life. Secret binge eating. The only things that have helped are eating WITH other people as much as possible as I can control myself when not on my own - I’ll happily order a salad/light meal in a pub or cafe or restaurant if with other people, but will stuff myself with far too much crap if eating on my own, ie fast food in the car! Other thing is just not having much in the house - ie not buying it in the first place. I stopped going to the shops because I always bought things like multipacks, bogofs, 3 for 2s, larger packs, etc that we didn’t actually need but I told myself they were cheaper - but it just meant I ate more and was always the worse kind of food like crisps, chocolate, biscuits, etc. Now I do click and collect which means I’m more likely to buy only what we need and usually just buy singles rather than multipacks - cheaper overall because I eat less! I also changed workplace because I used to have a long drive and would stop at petrol stations en route to buy/eat crap on the way - a shorter commute means not passing a petrol station and no time for boredom eating whilst driving! I’ve lost several stones, more to go, and still binge but not daily like I used to. Removing the temptation/removing the opportunity worked for me.

Take a look at Dr Jen Unwin, she has some talks and panel discussions on the PHC (Public Health Collaboration, a UK based charity) YouTube channel. She discusses food addiction and what physically is behind it.

Best wishes.
