Teenager with an eating disorder

I am new to this and I am reaching out for some support.
my daughter is under CAHMS and we have been told she has an eating disorder along with depression and anxiety which these both seem to be under control at the moment.
we are really struggling with eating, she sees herself as fat and and she is a Size 10.
she wears the baggy clothes and will eat her meals with family.
she tells my her head will stop her from eating, she said it’s always a battle and sometimes she will cry as she really wants to eat something but her head won’t let her.
she will some times go days with maybe just half a sandwich if that.
her eating varies from day to day.
I know it’s all mind set but how do we help them to change there mind set?
CAHMS just say she needs to figure out what size she wants to be then things will be ok!

The problem is she thinks she has about 7 stone to lose and struggles with explaining how she feels.
she is being assessed autism at the moment.

We have been going through this. If you have the resources, you could try a private therapist.

I really feel for you. Our DD has Restricted Eating Disorder and CAHMS were worse than useless. Even the Woman I spoke to agreed that what they offered wasn't suitable and could potentially be harmful.

Have you spoke to any organisations like BEAT?

I agree they are crap but I have been back into CAHMS I am waiting for a call back, i feel as a parent I am letting my daughter down when she is telling me she wants help. Yep been in touch with beat and all they have offered is links for me to read to understand and a book to read. I feel I understand what my daughter is struggling with I just need to help to help her. I spoke more to her yesterday and it’s the voice in the head telling her she is fat every time she eats. She tells me it’s a battle everyday.

It is great that she is talking to you , she must feel safe enough to do so without shame or judgement - sometimes being alongside her will be more support than you will know . Agree try local specialist therapist if funds allow

Can I ask how old she is? My DD suffers terribly with anxiety and the GO wouldn't prescribe Sertraline until she was 16. If your DD is 16 I'd take her back to the GP Flowers

Unfortunately I can’t afford to pay for extra help I have been down that road spending up to £70 for a session and Millie steuggled to engage in it. Also I believe if you’re under CAMHS they don’t like you to be having other support along side it.

She is 16 she is on Fluxetine 20mg since January I feel these have helped her with her depression. Eat other issues at the moment and it changes weekly as lots going on.

Do you know why she struggled OP? My DD has ASD as well as ARFID and although she's bright and chatty she doesn't have the language needed to explore how she's feeling. It's something that just wouldn't be obvious to lots of people but she can't participate in regular Counselling.

I don't know if any of the books mentioned in this link would help?
