Hiya. I'm on a diet after having a baby last year. Going really well, lost 8kg since Jan (about 18lb), but I had a lot to lose (gained 35kg in pregnancy) and I think a lot of it was water weight. I do have a problem with binge eating though. I wouldn't say I'm particularly restrictive, but when I do allow myself a bite of something naughty, that's it, I'm unstoppable and I just feel awful. What have you found helps with binge eating, please? At the moment I'm just having to do an all-or-nothing approach but that's not completely in my control if I'm not in control of the menu.

"Recovered" anorexic, so this is difficult territory for me.

Given you are a “recovered” anorexic is there a chance your”binges” aren’t really “binges” at all but is just moderate re feeding ?

You’re on a diet. That’s why you are bingeing. Stop all restriction and allow your body to eat whatever. They will stop. The only way is to accept your body as it is

Intuitive eating? Pay attention to what you are eating - notice the taste, texture, sensations associated with whatever you are eating. Check in to see if you are still hungry after a couple of mouthfuls. Eat when you are hungry, stop eating when you are no longer hungry. Foods are not 'good' or 'bad.'

A Quick Guide to Intuitive Eating

Intuitive eating is not a "diet" - it is a way of eating that teaches you to eat based on your natural hunger and fullness signals.

Hi, I am venturing online really for the first time in an attempt to get help for binge eating disorder. I have suffered ED since the age of 15 really. Mainly starving myself to maintain weight however never diagnosed with anything officially. Whilst this has worked over the years I'm exhausted of living like this and have found that it no longer works and actually I have developed servere BED in the last 10 years due to persistent deprivation. Whilst the above comments in terms of mindful eating are logical, I have practiced this with no effect, I still binge persistently. I have also spent a lot of money on hypnotherapy programs which also don't seem to make a difference. It cause me significant depression and I constantly think about food from the moment I wake to the moment I go to sleep. I have seen my GP about this but there is no help in my area at all so I'm alone. I currenlty can't afford private therapy. Has anyone found anything that helps? I acknowledge that this is completely psychological and will no doubt take time to change but I honestly don't know where to start anymore. I hope maybe I can find someone who is going through the same thing as me and we could share ideas and support? None of my friends or family are experiencing this so whilst they are supportive and listen and I feel very lucky to have people who I can be open with about this issue, they don't actually understand.

Hoping I can find a friend.
