Overweight/Overeater - start with education?

Hello.

I'm 30 and about 5 stone overweight. I really struggle with keeping weight off and I basically live off sugar and carbs. I binge eat and over eat. I do everything you shouldn't. I am always beyond tired and just sugar rush my way up and down constantly.

In truth, I don't think I even know how to eat well. I don't understand what my body needs. I know I'd feel better if I i was a normal weight and if I ate well.

I'm wondering if I began at the route cause and maybe properly educated myself about good nutrition and if there are courses available for it? Not necessarily as far as a degree in nutrition nor a groupon course. But something... does anyone have any ideas?

Thank you

Hello @letsdothis123, do you think you are eating as a way of coping? You say you binge eat - is it emotional eating?
I just ask because I almost never talk about food with my therapist (I have anorexia) but we look at the cause of why I use food (or lack of) to cope.
I do see a dietician from time to time for practical support but my therapist says I will be more able to deal with the food issues when I’ve dealt with the cause. I hope that makes sense.
Are you able to ask your GP for some support? To be referred either to an eating disorder service or dietician?
