Controlling compulsive eating?

I'm not talking insane levels of binging, but I can go all day being good and then towards the end of the day I'll have a sandwich, two biscuits, a chocolate bar and then a decent day goes tits up!

I've long been like this and the only times I'm my life I've successfully lost weight were through excessive exercise but standard eating and through little exercise but eating nothing. I've really struggled with my MH and emotional eating throughout the lockdown and I'm already 10lb up Sad

I just wondered if anyone else has successfully conquered their relationship with food and if there's anything in particular that's helped. I love the feeling of being slim, and when I was slimmer it was easier to keep off as the motivation was instant. I've gained nearly 2 stone in the last few years. I'm the kind of person who has been on a diet every day since the age of 7. Is there a way out of this and, if so, how?

Bingeing is driven by restriction. You talk about being good all day, this is a problem. People need to eat regularly and have the amount they need. Your end of day eating is catching up on what you need and you’re hungry.

The only bad food is rotten food.

I've come to the sad conclusion that I have to give up diets of any sort to have any hope of controlling my eating. I think 'diet' and the disordered part of me thinks 'binge'. So dieting is counter productive. I've decided to just try and eat as nutritiously as possible, and avoid sugar and processed foods and not try to lose weight any longer.

The book Brain Over Binge is good. You can listen to it in audible too. There’s also a workbook/journal type thing to go with it.
