Add extra olive oil, butter or cream to main meals, soup, etc.

Also, cereal bars are good for in between meal snacks.

Ensure you eat 3 proper meals per day along with 2-3 snacks.
Best of luck!

I've read that it takes 21 days to change a habit
Let's all start today

I think eating little and often can be easier to manage and less daunting than having to tackle large, rich meals.
Snacks with nut butter, crackers, chocolate and also hot chocolate are all worth a try.

It's interesting how 'little and often' seems to be a successful method and perhaps why I'm failing to put on weight. Due to my worries on food safety and stuff I find it easier to eat all my food at mealtimes and then just before bed. Just need to get the food on my plate in the first place!

Does anyone know if / how being underweight for many years affects your ability to ever reach a healthy weight? Or is this just wishful thinking?

trickyex · 04/04/2018 18:09

Not sure if being underweight has a long term effect on ability to reach a healthy weight, I presume not or few anorexics would manage to recover fully.
I have gained several kg eating little and often, trying to eat the foods I suggested above, ie nutrient dense food.
Am still not up to where I was but just about healthy weight (and I was quite low weight bmi 16).
Good luck
