I have various MH issues and have just started Citalopram for Anxiety and Depression again after not needing meds for a few years.

One of the things that has developed this time around is BED. I am gaining weight at a ridiculous rate and I really need to find some way of stopping.

I've read brain over binge and overcoming binge eating and they both make so much sence but when i'm in binge mode I struggle to think clearly.

I really want to stop binging and I also know I need to lose some weight as it's starting to have an affect on my health. Is that possible or do I need to solve the BED first?

Hi mrs September ,

It sounds like your medication could definitely be linked with the weight you have gained. My advice would be to perhaps try going to your gp and discussing what options are available in helping you manage your depression and anxiety without the side effects I.e. trying a medication that doesn't have the side effects of weight gain or if the medication your on doesn't include the weight gain side effects , maybe your gp could other further treatment such as cbt - cognitive behavioural therapy , as often how we feel and think reflects on how we look after selves i.e sleeping eating etc , if the Gp feels that you do have an ed they may refer you to dietician etc , but definately try see the Gp as they will be able to help
