My daughter has just turned 21. About a month ago I discovered her weight loss was due to her vomiting every day after meals. She refuses to accept that a doctor can help her, but admits she has a problem - she now has panic attacks when she eats, goes shopping or is around some people. She has gone from a size 14 to a size 6/8 in the last 6 months.
This weekend I was informed that she is smoking cannabis and has taken mdma ( something I had never heard of before). She also text her friend saying she wants to commit suicide.
We have cried together, she has shut down conversations with me and said she knows her thoughts and behaviour are irrational/distorted, but she doesn't care. She thought being thin would make her boyfriend love her, but it didn't and he ended their short relationship, but every couple of weeks he gets back with her, sometimes just for a day!
She knows she is lost, but is not ready for help. My heart is breaking, I just don't know what to do.
Can anybody please advise me? Thank you.

Hi,
Sorry to hear of this. I was bulimic at your DD's age (age 16-21). Going to the GP didn't help but he was particularly useless and blamed me. On reflection I think I was depressed. I also drank heavily and took recreational drugs. Have you considered contacting the Eating Disorder's Association for advice?
I got better when I got happy, which in my case was meeting my lovely DP who loved me unconditionally.
Hopefully someone else will be of
More help.

Thank you for your reply. Since my post, my daughter has taken an overdose of paracetamol's when we were 2 hours from home. A friend got into the house and stayed with her until paramedics came.
The paramedics realised she had not taken enough tablets to do harm and after an hour, chatted to me and left. Half an hour later we heard a bang upstairs, and found her hanging from a cord attached to her door handle.
My husband and eldest daughter saved her and she was taken to hospital.
Tonight we have had her sectioned and I have just had the heart breaking job of leaving her in a mental health unit, begging to come home.
Looking on her mobile phone it became clear that in a group chat with so called friends, she had told them about taking tablets and they called her an attention seeker and told her to post it on twitter.
I have just had the worst few days of my life and am totally lost.

My goodness, OP, this is terrible. May I suggest you ask MNHQ to move this to the mental health board. I think you will find a lot more traffic and support.

I don't know how to ask MNHQ to move this to mental health board. Please can you advise? Thank you

How are things OP? Hope your daughter got/is getting good support as an inpatient. So sorry you're going through this.
