I am mid very difficult divorce and find myself with a resurgence of ED with worse symptoms than ever before.

I am finally accepting it's got a control on me and am scared.

Well done on noticing and accepting that you have an issue with it. It's great that you can recognise it.

It's really common for stressful events to make ED's and ED behaviours worse. Have you been able to see your GP about it yet? Or a therapist/ED specialist if you already have one?

Thank you for your reply.

I've never told any professional and since my wonderful GP retired I have not felt comfortable with the stream of locums that have been in our surgery, though I have seen them with regards to the divorce (anxiety, chest pain).

I do not have the courage. My weight is OK, but going down. People have noticed and put it down to the divorce, which it is of course, but it's more complicated.

That's ok, it can take a while to ask for help. It took me a very long time (10 years or so) but it really is worth it when you do.

There's something in my area that you can self-refer to as well - they aren't ED specialists but MH in general. The ED help isn't the greatest as they aren't experts but they could help with some of the underlying causes that are rooted in the stress that you're going through? If you happen to be around Wandsworth then I'll give you the details or maybe Google your area for similar services? I've always found self-referrals easier for some reason, I don't know I you would finf that easier too?

If there are any tips or hints you'd like help with (AN is my ED, I'm not sure what you suffer with) then I'm happy to try and offer some advice until the point that you feel able to seek professional advice.

I feel I eat too much (I don't) then purge. Or I go long periods w/o eating - which feels a lot better than eating and feeling crap.

I'm a runner for goodness sake, and my running is keeping me sane, I need to look after my body.

I don't eat breakfast (never have), lunch is usually OK as I'm working but evenings are bad.
I avoid dinner by going running and then either don't eat much at all or eat and then purge.
