Referral to Eating Disorder Services

I thought I wouldn't be nervous receiving this letter, but I am! I've been told to make an appointment, which will last about 90 minutes.

I'm pretty experienced with mh stuff, but getting help for the eating disorder is pretty new to me. Anyone know what happens when you have an appointment, hold my hand, that sort of thing?

No advice yet, but I've got mine in 2 weeks too. I don't really want to him:(

I have just been. Mine was for BED, so might be different if you are suffering from another ED.

I had to complete a questionnaire prior to going in, which asked me to think about the last 28 & 7 days in regards to food/my mood/behaviour. I found it ok to fill in.

Then a very nice physiatrist asked me lots of questions. I was weighed and she talked me through treatment options. There is a waitling list, but it is good to be 'in the system'.

I was v nervous but actually it was fine. For a NHS service the place and people all seemed very serene and calm.....

It is a big step going...but hopefully a worthwhile one of you.

It's for bulimia, although I've had three long periods of anorexia too.
Ironically, having struggled with this for fifteen years, the last few weeks have been ok!

I think Margo would see a psychiatrist but call it something else. That's a Margo sort of thing to do! Id love to be Barabara tbh!

I wonder if the 'good' weeks are due to knowing the appointment is coming? I have had the opposite, in that the thought of it made me worse.

There was a poster there for a book about overcoming overeating by a UK Dr which I have started to read. It is interesting to read about EDs from a clinical point if view.

It's normal to not want to eat between then and now, isn't it?!
