Hi i posted this in the teen section as well as I am desperate for advise.
I need help and somewhere to talk so I hope this is a good place to find both.
My lovely dd has started to control her eating. She became a vegetarian then a vegan then smaller and smaller meals. She claims to eat lots of snacks, says she isn't hungry then skips meals. She has lost 5kg over the summer and she was already very slim. She is right on the borderline for unhealthy on her bmi. Her periods haven't started.
We have had 2 cahms appointments but she refuses to discuss the problem during the appts. They will discharge her as there is nothing they can do. School are very concerned about her as are her friends.
In the last couple of weeks she has been having terrible violent rages. The last couple of times she has hit me and pulled my hair. This happens when I try to get her to eat more/something.
I don't know what to do next. Please help.

Are you in London? If so, go to your GP and get an urgent referral to the Maudsley which is the world centre for eating disorders. Also google the Maudsley method. How old is your DD? Is she young enough for you to take control of her meals? Talk to her at a time that is not a mealtime, and see if she has some insight into her own disorder and agree how you will tackle it. I will pm you.

Hi Marmitenot Hi.
How is it going?
My friend has had Anorexia for a long time and I have eating problems in the other direction, hence being on this section of mumsnet.
The GP for a referral seems a really good idea.
I am assuming you have visited the Beat Anorexia website, they may be some help but if not is is at
www.b-eat.co.uk/get-help/about-eating-disorders/types-of-eating-disorder1/anorexia/
Have you any idea why this started of if anything triggered this? any bullying or incidents at school or elsewhere that could have started this off. I am not sure if this is relevant and you do not need to say but I just wondered.

And do get support, you need it and this may help in a number of ways.
You could try
www.b-eat.co.uk/get-help/get-support/support-groups/ as a first port of call.

That's very sad to hear that, I hope things improve for you both.
Perhaps explain to CAHMS/Mental Health that she is not willing to speak to them, and see what they are willing to do, they could perhaps see her in school.
