Mask rules in hotels - why?

Hi all.

Lovely to have a Welsh area.

I’m confused about the recent rule changes here. Masks still required in public places apart from hospitality, right?

So far WG seem to have been following the science but this seems to fly in the face of it. Went to a restaurant last night and no masks. All indoors. No open windows. Surely this is a recipe to spread it?

I’m not overly anxious about catching it. Have been vaccinated and am not in a high risk group but I know enough people whose lives have been trashed by long COVID to not be complacent about it either.

This isn’t a pro/against mask wearing post. I just wondered if anyone knows the science or rationale behind the hospitality exception.

Why masks on a train but not in a hotel?

Diolch

I think hotels can choose their own safety measures now. There's not much point in restaurants requiring masks, to be fair - people will be eating.

I suppose you could argue that many vulnerable people have no choice about using public transport. They've never done track and trace with sign in for trains and buses either have they, but some restaurants are still doing that.

Thanks for the response. I’ve taken a closer look. For hotels, in non food serving areas it’s masks on. Which makes more sense.
