How many eggs, how many blasts?

Day one of ICSI and I’m on pins waiting for an update! My clinic only offers day 1 and day 5 updates, so patiently waiting to hear how many fertilised! Started with 10 eggs! Anyone else in the same stage currently, or those who have done this previously
how many eggs did you start with?
how many fertilised?
then how many made to day 3/5 or whatever updates you had?
trying hard to remain positive but also aware that it’s common to end with nothing, so trying to be realistic also!

Oh I’m wishing you so much positive vibes 💓
I had 18 collected, 10 fertilized, 4 x day 5 embryos, and 2 x day 6 embryos! I was chuffed! There’s percentages online of how it usually goes but obviously everyone is different. I think it’s 50% fertilize, then a drop of 30% to day 5 more or less! Good luck 🍀

GingerFox2021 · 14/08/2025 17:25

First round - 9 eggs and 1 blastocyst.
Second round - 8 eggs and 3 blastocysts.

Btowngirl · 14/08/2025 18:56

10 is a great start well done!

We got:
15 collected, of which 13 were mature.
11 fertilised
7 blastocysts (6 day 5 blasts & 1 day 6 blast)

Wishing you luck! Come back and update us if you feel like it 🤞

Peonies94 · 14/08/2025 20:26

Thank you everyone! 8 fertilised! Will hear more on day 8 now! Happy with the results so far but know the next stages are where the bigger drops happen!😬
@Kaybee1989 that’s a really great amount of blasts! @Btowngirl you too! Wow 7 blasts!

Did any of you end up with success? How many FET’s have you done?
good luck if any of you are still on your journeys!

That’s really great news, 80% fertilised is a brilliant start!

We had 2 rounds of IUI prior to ICSI & were lucky enough that our first fresh transfer is now 9m old and we have 6 in the freezer! So haven’t had any frozen transfers but will if we decide to have another xx

Peonies94 · 14/08/2025 20:40

@Btowngirl thsrs brilliant! Thank you! Nervously wishing these next 5 days away, will update when I hear! Thank you all

It’s such a long slog waiting. And then another 2 weeks wait after transfer! Try and treat yourself nicely while you wait, keep busy this time and when you’re in your 2WW get your feet up, some nice food and binge watch something you’ve not seen in ages xx

PancakePatty · 14/08/2025 20:45

I had 5 eggs collected
2 were mature
The 2 eggs both fertilised and made blastocysts (1 was a hatching blastocyst)
Both embryos put in fresh at the same time became pregnant (just one baby)
Baby arrived safely

thismummyslife · 14/08/2025 20:45

8 eggs, 6 fertilised, 3 embryos and one gorgeous little baby!!🥰
I wish you every success in the whole world! It really is a rollercoaster, I remember the terror and excitement of those days awaiting news! Good luck! X

lollylo · 14/08/2025 20:49

5 in first collection. 2 in the second, of which one is now 9 months old.

Peonies94 · 14/08/2025 21:03

Thank you all! It really is so hard, but trying ti keep myself busy and distracted! Great to hear some positive stories though, thank you! ☺️

11 collected, 9 mature, 7 fertilised, 3 day 6 blasts, implanted 2 and 25 weeks with one of those!

Alexandrine · 14/08/2025 23:07

2 cycles of IVF - 4 eggs collected first time and all fertilised but only 3 embryos good enough to transfer/freeze (but both transfers were BFN). 5 eggs collected the 2nd cycle, again all fertilised but only 4 embryos good enough to transfer/freeze (1 of which became DS).

But my clinic only culture them to Day 3 embryos, rather than Day 5 blastocysts if only a small amount of eggs are collected, as they think they are better off inside of you at an earlier stage (or in the freezer). I understand a lot of clinics will only transfer blastocysts instead.

Kaybee1989 · 16/08/2025 00:58

Two frozen transfers, the first was medicated cycle& a grade A hatching day 5 embryo which didn’t work. The second another grade A day 5 embryo, minimal medication cycle, which is now my 3m old baby!

Needlenardlenoo · 16/08/2025 13:39

I can't remember the details but I do remember being shown a colour laser print of the blastocysts and them saying "we're excited about this one - it's dividing very fast!"

And in December hyperactive DD was born...

Needlenardlenoo · 16/08/2025 13:40

Good luck OP!!

Peonies94 · 16/08/2025 18:54

Thank you all! Not so patiently wishing days away now for an update! Will let you all know on Tuesday as my clinic doesn’t do day 3 updates

Hi :) we are just starting this journey. My partner is going to London tomorrow to provide his sample and at the same time eggs are being collected (fresh eggs as we are on the gold package refund with LEB) . They then said they'd call us on day 1 with a fertilisation update then again on day 5.
After 2 years of miscarriages (due to my age - i am 45) This is our last shot at a little family.
I fell comforted that we will get a full refund if unsuccessful but id rather they just kept the £30k and we had our baby :) .

Mmr224 · 27/08/2025 11:24

We had 11 eggs, 10 mature, 9 fertilised, 5 x day 5 blasts.

Lynsey5 · 27/08/2025 11:56

My first cycle age 37 was my worst cycle and my last at age 42 was the best . I think the protocol and the supplements i was on made more difference than my age.
Fresh Cycle1- 14 eggs collected, 12 injected, 4 fertilised, no blasto. Transfer on day3 and BFN
Fresh Cycle2- 18 eggs collected. 14 injected. 12 fertilised. 11 good on day3. 5 went to blasto, 3 good blasto . 1 fresh transfer - BFN
FET1 - BFP but MC
FET2 - BFP first baby born
Fresh Cycle3 - 16 eggs collected 10 injected
8 fertilised. Day3 - 2x6 cells, 2x7 cells, 4x 8 to 10 cells . Day 5 - 3 blastos frozen
FET1 - MC
FET2 - MC
FET3- BFN
Fresh cycle 4 - 11 eggs collected. 3 blastos. There was an embriyo we weren’t sure if will make to blasto on day 5 . We wanted to give that embriyo and the lowest quality of the blastos best changes so transferred them 2. We had 2 good frozen embriyos to try next if they didn’t work. BFP and had a healthy second baby. Still have 2 blastos frozen but i am 46 now so our IVF joirney is over. I feel extremely lucky to have beautiful 2 kids. After my first MC i thought i’ll never be a mum.

I wish you best of luck.

Every batch is different so don’t hold too much stock in the numbers. I had 22 eggs, 18 fertilised, ended up with 6 day 6 blastocysts. 2 put back. IVF worked first time. Had my DD. DN had 2 eggs. 1 fertilised. I f worked first time. And she has a beautiful DD. Cousin also had just 2 on her 5th cycle of ivf and now finally has a perfect DD.
10 eggs is a great batch. Crossing everything for you to get great results and a successful cycle.
