Using Seed Scout for known donor

Hello, hope you're all well. Has anyone from the UK/outside the USA used Seed Scout to be connected to a known donor for sperm (matching service), for donor conception? I am a single woman (Indian ethnicity) who is 41.5 years old and would like to use them based on the more personal approach and limited siblings. I am British in the UK so the process is a bit more difficult than being USA based. Sharing any experiences would be super appreciated xx

"Unfortunately, there is no method for The Seed Scout to confirm a donor’s medical history for accuracy."

Did you see this bit, OP? That would be a red flag for me.

I also can't see anything on their website about proper medical screening of the donor, or screening the sperm for hereditary diseases. It basically just says if you want that you have to arrange it yourself.

It's a massive risk.

They also contradict themselves as another page of their website they are complaining about sperm banks, and they say "Perhaps most heartbreakingly, there is no requirement to share serious genetic medical diagnoses with any children that are born using the donor sperm. This has led to many issues where families lack basic medical history information that could have allowed them to help their children...."

They don't do this either! And nor do they do any other kind of medical screening that they speak of.

I can't see how they are any better than a sperm bank other than you get to meet the donor a couple of times. They say they limit the families but how are they enforcing this - a donor could be donating to several places like this.

It just doesn't look like they are well regulated, and they are charging through the nose for it. Personally I think it looks like a bit of a con and a rip off, playing on people's emotions around the risks of using donor sperm.

I'd avoid them if I were you and use a reputable sperm bank.

Another consideration is the legal stance on parenthood. They are pretty vague about this and just seem to be saying everyone will sign an agreement, and you need to get a lawyer (look at their FAQ's).

If you go through a sperm bank, the donor has no legal parental rights or responsibilities to the child.

I can't tell if that is the case with this place - and as they're not saying it is the case - I'm assuming it isn't. So really you are probably looking at more of a shared parenthood arrangement than a sperm donor. Legally, this "donor" may well still be the child's father.
