Newlife IVF Clinic asking for payment in cash. Dodgy?

Hello,

I’m currently looking for a clinic and narrowed it down to Newlife IVF clinic in Greece.

Initial communication was very good and impressive reviews. However the clinic have asked for the final payment of €3000 to be made in cash. I emailed to clarify why it can’t be made by card/bank transfer but apparently it’s for the donor’s expenses and is their clinic policy!

Is this commonplace? There’s something about it that just doesn’t sit right with me but I don’t know if I’m just being paranoid?

Has anyone used Newlife previously for donor eggs? What was your experience?

Is that payment at the final treatment? They might want to be sure they have the money before completing things. Cards can be dodgy, cash is cash, are you a resident or just going there for treatment? That might also influence things. But yes on the face of it seems a bit odd.

We used serum in greece and had to pay for some things in cash. From memory it was meds and any scans at the local hospital.

Yes, it’s payment at the final treatment, so €3000 euro on the day of the embryo transfer. Prior payments to be made by bank transfer or credit card.

We’re resident here in the UK.

Seems a bit odd as I haven’t come across any other clinics asking for such a large payment in cash…

Thanks. So maybe paying in cash is more common place in Greece then.

I think it’s the large sum required in cash that I’m uneasy with

Sorry if this is too late to be helpful… I’m currently a patient at Newlife and also paid the 3,000 in cash. I don’t know why it has to be cash (I did wonder if it’s just easier admin-wise to pay the donor in cash). I’ve been to the clinic a few times now, they’re incredibly professional and not dodgy at all. If you’re on Facebook, there’s a Newlife IVF Support group which might be helpful if you have more questions.

Hello I hope you don't mind me jumping on this post. I am considering going to Newlife in Greece from the UK this summer for IVF and just wondered how either of your experiences has been with them? I have read a few bad reviews on google which have left me feeling skeptical.
TIA.

Hey!

Jumping on this thread as we are thinking of starting our first IVF round with Newlife in Greece in September. Just waiting on costing of IVF + ICIS, did you find the costing competitive?

Thanks and best of luck xxxxx

I'm their patient, I have had 2 rounds of IVF (no transfer yet, just frozen blasts so far) and we have paid everything with card. They are incredibliy professional and we are very happy with them. Suprised that anyone anywhere might have any negative feedback at all in all honesty.

Sorry I just noticed you are using donor eggs- which is not our case. You can request further information, but yes, keep in mind that cash payments in Greece are still common.

I'm also looking into becoming a patient at Newlife IVF or Embryolab Thessaloniki, which seems to be across the street from Newlife IVF.
If anyone has any experiences with either one of them (be it good or bad), I'd really appreciate your sharing your experiences.
I've just learnt that Newlife IVF has just raised their prices for this year, so this is something else I might need to consider.

Anyway, I'd be happy to read about your experiences.

Hi Perlach,

My partner and are currently going through this journey with newlife.
Our overall experience has been positive. They have very good communications and have always been available via email or a chat.

We're currently on our 2nd attempt using the PGTA protocol as on our 1st attempt we only had one embryo to try, but as they say, you only need one for a baby right? Unfortunately, the 1st attempt was not successful. It took us a while to recover and go again but this time we had 4 embryos that made it through the PGTA tests, one was transferred, my partner is now 12 weeks pregnant.

The only negative experience we had was the feeling they could have supported us more, emotionally, when the 1st attempt failed. Rather, the focus was on changing the protocol and planning the next one.

Hi Perlach,
That is fantastic news about your baby on the way I am currently thinking of travelling to Newlife from Ireland after two failed ivf ireland one positive pregnancy but unfortunately didn't pass 6 weeks as was lowest grade embryos. I want to use pgta testing but cannot find the cost of this on newlife website do you mind telling me how much it was including your ivf/icsi round
Really appreciate thank you
Sandra
