What are my chances of getting pregnant again with IUI?

So I've recently had my first baby via IUI. I'm in a same sex relationship, no known fertility issues and managed to conceive on the 3rd round.

We used donor sperm with high motility and I was 31 at the time of conception. I'm wondering what are my chances of it happening again or should I go to IVF this time? I would love to not do IVF but think my luck may not happen again and don't want to waste too much time (and money)!

If anyone has been in the same situation or offer any advice, that would be great 😊

First iui aged 25 got pregnant first round after 4 years of trying to conceive.
Second time aged 30 6th attempt.
It's very individual on your medical history. I spoke to the Dr's and both times agreed a 6 round maximum. Then discuss further (partly due to my younger age I/the drs felt I had time on my side). I'd also say fertility treatment was much cheaper then too (mine are all teenagers now).

@Bookchildtable thanks for your response.

It seems it can be quite hit and miss with IUI! I know it's so much easier but I think I might consider IVF next time as I'll be closer to 35. We shall see!

It's very hard to say as it depends on your overall health as well as age. I'm approaching 35 and have had 7 unsuccessful rounds.

You could always try a few and move to IVF if it doesn't work.

I looked into IUI/IVF recently.
The cost of IUI is a lot by the time you add medication/sperm etc, and the success rate is alot lower than IVF.

Personally, If we were to go for treatment now, IVF would be our choice as there are often deals which will work out better, with a higher success rate.

Good luck, whatever you chose

Have had all 3 of my kids via donor iui. Was 37 with my first - successful on 3rd attempt. With 2nd baby, was successful on 2nd attempt, was 39. 3rd baby 1st attempt was 42. Good luck .

For us, the first donor IUI pregnancy took 7 attempts and I was ready to move onto IVF. 2nd pregnancy was the 1st IUI and 3rd pregnancy took two attempts. I was late 30's with PCOS and other fertility issues thrown into the mix.

Perhaps pay to get your AMH checked, to make sure your egg levels are good, and if they are, I would stick with the iui's. You could get several attempts for the same cost as one IVF, which has no guarantee to work and is far more invasive.

Best of luck to you both, whatever you decide.

@PatsyStonesBeehive wow interesting! It really doesn't seem to have a pattern does it! Well done and congratulations 🎉good thinking about checking AMH

Agree you need to see your AMH and AFC to understand your chances of IUI vs IVF.

For me, I was looking at around 15% chance for IUI vs 45% chance per IVF cycle. And IVF was much less than 3x cost of IUI. Some people get lucky and pregnant first or second time on IUI, but I wasn’t feeling lucky.
