Hi
I’ve decided to have a CSection with my second child, having posted a lot on here I feel happy with my decision.

It would be great to get as many tips as possible - prep, the procedure, hospital stay, recovery, breastfeeding, having a toddler, visitors ... you name it I would like to hear it! Just all those little nuggets of info no one tells you etc

Thanks in advance

I found recovery from my second C-section much easier and quicker than the first one!

Things that I would recommend would be

  • Try to get up and about as soon as you can afterwards.
  • Take all the painkillers you are offered even if you don't think you need them.
  • Get a curved feeding pillow, whether you're breastfeeding or formula feeding after the section you might end up with back pain and I found this really helped.
  • Gigantic old lady pants!
  • If your partner is going back to work and you're on your own, I found it helpful to try to have everything organised that I needed for the next day. Even things like having mine and my toddlers lunch made up so all I had to do was take a sandwich out the fridge for example very helpful. Or having all the nappies and wipes I need for the day in the room I would be in. You don't want to be going up and down stairs all day if you can avoid it.
  • I also bought a sort of sofa height bouncer chair thing which was helpful because it meant that I didn't need to bend down too far to pick the baby up or put the baby down. As getting down to the floor level and back up again is not easy after a section.
