Hi, Just a quick hello to everyone. I'm so glad I found this site, and came straight upon this thread which is a huge relief! Being with other Mums ttc using donor eggs.
I'm 47 and have 2 lovely step kids (who live with their mum) with my DH of 7 years. I have had Relapsing Remitting MS since I was 17 - Dx at 21. My disease course has been mild so very lucky!
My DH had his vas. reversed in 2012, but 2 months later I randomly contracted Necrotising Fasciitis (flesh eating infection) from a jab in my hip area for my MS. This left me with a massive wound on my hip/buttock that took a year to close. I was on morphine and tramadol so trying for a baby was out.
Due to my age, pregnancy hasn't happened so now we're in the Donor Egg process. My womb, bloods etc checked out great but still waiting for Comet Sperm test analysis results for my DH.
I get worried that people will think I'm mad/irresponsible for wanting my first baby at nearly 48, and with MS too.
But to look at me you wouldn't know I had MS, and donor egg doesn't worry me as I already love my Step Kids as my own even though we're not genetically related.
Am I wrong to want this so much? X

Hi OP,
I can only speak from my experience. I have a hidden disability and a big support team of social workers, rheumatologists, neurologists, physiotherapists and a lot more.

I was also 39 when our two decades of IVF finally came to fruition, so not a 'younger' parent. DD is donor egg & donor sperm.

The lengths everyone went to in order to see me through the pregnancy in a manageable (Note: not comfortable) way was incredible. The NHS really did come into its' own and the pro-active care I &
my unborn child received was second to none.

As for being mad, no, hand on my heart, youre not. You know your body, it's not for others to judge.

I really believe life is too short to not reach for what you'd like to achieve.

Xx
