Hi all
First month of tracking my cycle, using ovulation sticks are my peak has been bang on my predicted day so feeling confident. Has anyone brought sperm from an overseas bank for home insemination? I'm confused by how many straws we will need, is it one straw per insem? Should we have more than one try each month? And what MOT should we use? Doesn't it matter if it's ICI of IUI ready? So many questions if someone's been in the same situation would love to chat!

IUI ready won't live as long after thawing (if I recall correctly, it lasts about 6-12 hours versus 12-24 for ICI-unwashed), and is also more expensive. I'd therefore recommend ICI-unwashed because it seems a bit pointless to pay more for something that's less useful to you.

It's kind of up to you how many insems you do and how much of what MOT you use, there are pros and cons to different approaches. Cryos recommend using at least MOT20, and using two straws per insem. I think they usually say if you time it right then one go is enough, which is true bit possibly easier said than done. That said, there are arguments for going about things differently. My usual plan was 2 insems of 2xMOT10, spaced about 12 hours apart (and I did get pregnant with that approach). On some tries I did 3 insems of 1x20MOT, or other variants. I have known people online have success with a large number of inseminations with lots of straws of MOT5. (Be aware that Cryos may send you a 'we don't recommend this' email if you seem to be straying from their recommendations.)

The main thing is, you want to try to achieve having the sperm already in your fallopian tubes already at the time you ovulate. Once you ovulate the egg will only be good for 12 hours or so, and you need to factor in some swimming time, as it were. So, timing is absolutely everything here, and how you approach it will depend a bit on how precisely you feel you can predict when you'll ovulate.

Hope that helps a bit - good luck!

Oops, sorry, duplicate post!

Sperm bank would be the right way to get it done , find a person with good health with no history of diseases which are inherited, it's as easy as that ! or there is an option to adopt as well!

Oh do sod off happyandpregnant with your smug username.

No one wants to hear your spam for the surrogacy clinic you're clearly here to advertise. There is absolutely NOTHING to suggest the OP needs a surrogate when the issue is a lack of sperm.

Any decent clinic would check sperm donors for STIs and do a semen analysis to check sperm quality so this is hardly a revolutionary idea.
