Unprofessional behaviour from Doctor towards PA

Not sure where to take this.
Am aware of tensions in hospital where I work as part of large rehab MDT between Doctors and other MDT members in particular PA (Physician Associate).
One of the Doctors who is usually very nice offered to make coffee/tea recently.
I walked into the room where drink making facilities were to get my purse and caught the Doctor spitting into the coffee they had made for the PA on the team.
While I appreciate Dr concerns, this seems remarkably unprofessional and unfair. This Dr is very young so I hope after our chat and being a bit embarrassed at being caught it won't happen again.
Should I report this further or leave it there?
I won't be accepting coffee from them again.

I’d want to report to a line manager, but being NHS, I wouldn’t be surprised if it gets swept under the carpet.
It’s their word against yours too.

At least you called them out on it.

Plus it’s a doctor using body fluids as a weapon, making it worse !

Hmm. I'd be surprised if this is true. There is a lot of bad feeling amongst doctors (quite rightly) about the introduction of PAs, and it's in the interests of health money makers to promote them. This sort of division helps their cause, doesn't it, and is typical of the way the nhs runs today. If it really were true I'm sure you'd report it like a professional at work and not make a drama about it publicly.

Disgust behaviour

If that's true, the man's not fit to be a doctor and you should pursue it all the way.

Yes true I would not want a good Doctor to lose their job.

Dr spat in the coffee of another member of staff. You witnessed this. And spoke to them?

What did they say? What did you say?

Why aren't you raising this higher?

MarilynBoo · 18/04/2024 11:43

You must report this. It's horrific and could escalate to something worse. A GP was found guilty last year of adding his semen to hot drinks he gave to a female colleague.

I wouldn’t imagine life would be easy if you went ahead and made that complaint depending on your own position in the team
I did also wonder whether it was just that cup that had the saliva added

GridlockedKey · 18/04/2024 11:54

Really? It seems very unlikely indeed. The PA issue is such a hot topic these days.

GridlockedKey · 18/04/2024 11:56

Maybe the clue is in the OPs username and this is a Casualty plot suggestion 😅

Absolutely, I did not have any tea on this occasion but was too perturbed anyway.
