I just signed my friends passport (I'm an OT) then after we checked and it's actually not listed as a recognised occupation - any other OTs ever done this ?

*have known the person applying (or the adult who signed the form if the passport is for a child under 16) for at least 2 years
*be able to identify the person applying, eg they’re a friend, neighbour or colleague (not just someone who knows them professionally)
*be ‘a person of good standing in their community’ or work in (or be retired from) a recognised profession

From the website. As an Occupational Therapist is a recognised profession I can't seen a problem.

I did think that but then my friend was nervous that it isn't on the list below - hopefully it goes ok I've never had to do one but I have done driving licenses in the past

I’m not keen on signing patients’ passport applications as I have to put my passport and contact details down on the form what does other people think.

Blobbyweeble · 20/04/2018 04:50

i do it quite often. No idea if paramedic is specifically on the list but as its a registered profession I think it's ok. Never thought about the potential issue of my details being on there but as I don't/can't do it for strangers I don't have a problem with it.

Andrimeda you shouldn't be doing the form for a patient unless they're also a friend, in which case putting your details on wouldn't matter. The website says:
Your countersignatory can’t:
be a doctor, unless they state that they know you well (eg good friend) and that they recognise you easily from your photo
I would presume thst the same goes for other hcp.

OP the list is just examples. OT is definitely a recognised profession.

Yes I'm OT and it's definitely a recognised profession.

I've always done it for friends, but no, I wouldn't do it for patients or anyone I didn't know.
