Paramedic etiquette

Last week the carer for an elderly neighbour must have called 999 as a paramedic car arrived. Two hours later it was still there. The engine was running the whole time. Is this normal practice? It just seems odd and I wondered if there were any paramedics about . Both paramedic and carer's cars went so presumably the neighbour was ok.

Why don't you pop in and see if your neighbour is ok,Flowers

We have things in the car that only charge if the engine is running, suction, defibs, etc so it may be that everything's got bit low and needs a boost. Its why we leave our engines running if we're on standby as its a bugger if we get to a cardiac arrest and the suction expires mid way through. We're exempt from the illegality of leaving the engine running.

You've been thinking about this for a week?

Oh that's quite interesting about stuff charging. I'd never have thought about it Smile

They often sit with the engines running outside of my A&E too (presumably for the same reason. I have to keep the window shut due to the fumes
