Should I delay the Final Order while finances are unresolved?

Hi. I’m the respondent in a UK divorce. My ex applied for the divorce and I’m filling in the online gov.uk form. I’m confused about the question asking whether I want the court to delay my divorce in order to consider my financial position before the Final Order - I need to tick yes or no to delaying and not sure which one to tick. I’ve read about Form B but I’m not sure if it applies to me. I've run it through Co Pilot and it says I absolutely do not need or want to delay or complete Form B as it can incur extra legal processes and potentially additional costs to me. Yet other people say I need to select yes, delay divorce and prompt a form b. My finances are still in negotiation and haven't been finalised and will include property and pensions. Can anyone explain whether I should tick yes or no to delaying? Thank you

Im personally waiting.
I want to send final order along side financial agreement.
You have 1 year, if you need longer you can provide a reason why.

Final order will divorce you and you loose your marital rights.
D81 form will need to be completed to end financial connections.

Thank you. So did you select the delay option if you're waiting?

i think you have to as as soon as your legally divorced you can’t claim pensions and split house depending on circumstances.

The issue is if you delay the decree Nisi or first application ( as needs X amount of time to fully mature) - then if you have the FDR hearing or the financial order signed off prior to the validity of the decree Nisi, then the financial order cannot be signed off. Which is what happened to me, where the asshole ex didn’t sign his Decree Nisi in time and we had the FDR hearing had agreed financial order in October last year, but the judge could not sign it off and so its been floating around in the ether and another judge had to pick it up. Hence still not divorced. And it’s been 1.5 years since filing……

Degree Nisi was replaced by the term conditional order. Once you have conditional you can accept it and can be officially divorced in 24hrs.

You can get divorced without financial agreement in place but its not recommended.
