I know they are unpopular on here but Mesher Orders, what is your plan at the end of the term you can stay in the house?

10 years to go so wondering what others did at the end of their agreement.

Thanks in advance!

Well you’ll owe him the equity per the agreement so will either need to raise the capital to buy him out or sell the house

will you be able to raise that , eg get a mortgage in 10 years ?

I’m buying out his share of the mesher early. I don’t want to wait until the end of the mesher when house prices have risen even higher and the mortgage balance has reduced (I am solely paying the mortgage) as it will be harder for me to rehouse at that point. I have a long time to go on the mesher but have worked out that I can buy him out this year.

I have heard they are often sorted before the end time is completed, thanks for your comment. Not often I hear someone with one. I am trying not to fixate on the end part but like to have a loose plan.

I had it written into the final order that if the opportunity arose I could buy his mesher share before any of the trigger events. He wasn’t happy about it and tried to fight that clause but the judge agreed for it to be included.
10 years seems a long way off but in reality it will creep up and be here before you know it.
Most children don’t leave home at 18 anymore and I don’t want to be left unable to house them just because they have reached 18 years old.

Yes. It's in our mesher order too as a clause. I think mine is happy either way, he views it as an investment property I assume. He has another 2 properties as well.
