Over a year since STBXH left, admitted affair. Nothing legally organised yet...I've had one appointment with a solicitor who advised that the only thing missing from our overall "picture" was our pension valuations. I've applied for mine and it's still not through after almost 6mths. I asked him to do the same and was met with great resistance...I'm not pushing him on it as I am currently in the family home with the children and he is desperate to sell it.
At first I was thinking no rush, but this state of limbo is horrific
Pensions agency can give no indication of when I might receive my valuation. It's driving me mad. Is anyone else in this situation?

@Farside99thank you,I know absolutely nothing about the process so that's really helpful thank you. My solicitor said the same...and i know my ex is very anti pension sharing 🙄...I'm hoping this gives me some bargaining around how we split the house equity.

Personally I think pension sharing is critical, particularly if you have had time out for DC. I bet hubbie didn't contribute towards a stakeholder if you were off work.

Ex had a police pension and I had a CS pension, ours were both back i believe within a week or two

@socialdilemmawhattodoI've had very little time off actually, only ever went from 5 days to 4, but back up to full time after only a couple of years. Do you think that'll make a difference?

It will depend on your type of scheme, so DB vs DC. Your incomes and your contribution amounts, and the employer matching. The CETV valuations attempt to give sensible comparative at a point in time. We shared pensions 50:50 and I had to liquidate everything to buy ex out of house. 15 years on, no regrets. He is still chasing the money, having upped his lifestyle massively after we divorced. I have the house, mortgage free, and am looking at being able to retire early, so I can lead my life.

I got my teachers pension CETV within 3 weeks and was pleasantly surprised. No sign of husbands NHS CETV, 8 weeks waiting already.

My NHS took about 14 weeks. I chased them after 12 which did the trick.

It's lovely to read this. I'm just at the start of the process now and it's so daunting but I know I deserve and will have a happy life. Good for you ❤️

@ThisPoisedGoldGuidesounds like you've been v lucky, that's great. Was yours affected by the McCloud remedy? I wonder if that's why mine is taking so long, as it was affected?

I'm not sure, I started my NQT in 2012 so that might be why?

Fizzink38 · 09/01/2026 08:39

Can't remember exactly - more than 6 months, less than a year. 8 months, maybe?
Hope you get it sorted soon.

I think it’s slightly quicker if you’re still in work, but my exH was retired. I spoke to my MP, wrote to moneybox live on radio 4, nothing made it any quicker.

Farside99 · 09/01/2026 10:05

My ex wife's council pension nwas taking months so I told her to complain and it came within a week. Regardless of whether or not it speeds it up, I would always complain as they are missing their commitments

50notNifty · 09/01/2026 13:30

Thank you all! Yes I need to complain but it's so hard getting a chance to call when you're working.
I am still in work, ex is retired so it's going to be complicated!
