Finding a solicitor - financial order - costs?

Just after some advice please.
husband and I wrote up our own financial order when he moved out April 2024.
we are both happy with it.
finally getting around to getting divorced and he has had the order written up officially.
same terms so I am not wanting to contest any of it.
called a couple of local solicitors and being quoted £750-£2000 per hour with a minimum of 3 hours work!
this is way more than I expected, does this sound right??
I just need the order checked over, would appreciate any advice as I want to get this sorted as soon as possible

Yes for high street. The annoying thing is that it’s a bloody pro former they adapt. Look at an online service to keep the costs down.

I paid about £1200 for a solicitor to do my financial order. That was around 6 years ago. I think the amount of hours sounds about right.

My divorce lawyer is the senior partner (ie the boss) of her firm, which is a well-known regional firm of solicitors. She charged (last year) £450 + VAT an hour. I am a lawyer too (in a commercial field) and also work at a well known firm of solicitors and my hourly rate is £550 + VAT. You should expect at least 3-4 hours to review your draft and advise you on it. It’s not just rubber-stamping what you’ve done, it involves the lawyer asking you questions about your circumstances so that they can advise you on the “fairness” of what you’ve agreed. Any solicitor acting for you has to give advice which is not negligent, and you can’t do that without a proper understanding of the full background.

You don't necessarily need a solicitor, you can apply for a consent order yourself. My friend has done it. It's not quick, but it is cheaper particularly if neither party is objecting

£1500 in the North. Solicitor completed divorce and financial forms and advised if it looked fair for me.

I've just paid for the Wikivorce service - £1200 including a pension sharing order.
