I came on here looking if there are any members going through it with partners/husbands/wives/family who are now so deeply into conspiracy theories it has taken over?
I am at the point of looking for a flat to rent for me and my adult children (still live at home but saving hard for house deposits)
it started during Covid, that’s now 5 years of listening to absolutely bonkers CT. To start with I agreed with a couple and still do but we are now at the stage of him believing absolute crazy, bonkers shit on X and other platforms. I can’t even reveal what they are, they sound that crazy. My husband is so mentally unwell now but refuses to see a doctor (they’re all out to kill us according to him) the house will be repossessed soon as he stopped paying the mortgage as he found out it’s actually unlawful and we are all allocated a certain amount of money when we are born but then we are sold as a commodity by our birth certificates. I’m at the point where I have to save mine and my kids sanity. It’s a truly horrific experience and I’m at breaking point. He’s horribly aggressive in how he barks at us, we say we don’t believe what he’s saying he goes beserk; he is a loon. Conspiracy theories are his ONLY conversation. His friends have drifted away over the years (I don’t blame them at all) He’s also lost his job so I’m paying for everything along with our kids chipping in. Is there anyone out there going through the same?

No but - and his allies are on here will come at me for saying it - Helen Serafinowicz will have a pretty good idea of how that feels.
Not because her DH was wrong in having and sticking to his opinions, or that his detractors were not largely to blame - but because living with anyone whose internet engagement becomes obsessive/down to tweeting 24/7 is going to be on a downward spiral.
You do need to leave. Good luck with it all.

My DH MH nose dived after being ‘let out’ from lockdown, he’s hugely paranoid, some of his issues are completely reasonable as he has experienced so much racism since brexit, but the paranoia around this is immense.
All I hear is about how everything in the world is shit/corrupt/hateful. If I complain, I’m told I don’t like talking politics, it’s not that, I don’t like constantly hearing about how awful everything is and how bad it’s going to get.

I'm scared to tell him I want to leave and im not sure I’ll be brave enough but I am looking daily for somewhere else to live.

You need to act quickly to protect your financial interests. Issue divorce proceedings on Monday. If your house is be ing repossessed you’ll be jointly liable and seeing as he’s nuts, sounds like you have a job, so they’ll be coming out for you for money owing. You may want to work out your own financial position before committing to pay for money for rent in for adult children who are earning.

@okydokethen its sounds so similar to my situation!! I don’t often even sit with him anymore because I cannot bear what you’ve mentioned…what’s coming/what’s inside for us etc. my only statement is if this is true then time will tell won’t it! I’ve also been looking for places to live, my name isn’t on the mortgage and I’m kind of glad due to how things have panned out. Hang in there, you’re not alone xxx

@Slawbans i’m not on the mortgage and glad now it’s at this state! I have no finances, I was stupid and stayed at home for years bringing up my children (I don’t regret being a stay at home mum but regret not becoming financially independent) I’ve been financially trapped for years, costs of rent is way out of my budget so will have to get a 1 bedroom flat which my sons can share a room and I can have a sofa bed in living room. Happy and free is worth more than any money, I’m so worn down.
