Conditional Order HELP

NearingTheEnd · 28/06/2025 20:20

Hi,

I’ll be eligible to apply for the conditional order on 3rd July, and I just wanted to check how I go about doing this.

Can it be done online quite easily, or does it need to be submitted as a paper application?

Also, do you know how long it usually takes for the application to be approved and pronounced in court?

Thanks in advance for your help!

do it online, it’s easy, I did it myself.

sparepantsandtoothbrush · 28/06/2025 20:28

Yes you can do it online. Mine took 2 weeks to go to court from being submitted

NearingTheEnd · 28/06/2025 20:37

@Littledogball @sparepantsandtoothbrush sorry for being a little dim but how do you do it online? As in how do I know where to do this?

The court will send you a link on 3rd July which will take you to the online application form. I applied for my conditional order at the beginning of April this year and it took 8 weeks before it was pronounced in court.

@Iwanttobreakfree2 thank you for this information. What does it ask and how long does it take? Do I need to submit anything else with it? 8 weeks? There is no mention of this on the gov.uk site I was under the impression it’s 26 weeks?

The form is fairly self-explanatory, you shouldn't need to go off and find out information to fill it in and it only takes about 5 - 10 minutes. There's nothing else that needs to be submitted with it from what I can remember. Unfortunately, the gov.uk website is misleading as it doesn't include the waiting time for the conditional order. I think an 8-week wait for the conditional order is pretty standard at the moment.

ICantWaitAnotherMinute · 28/06/2025 21:21

8 weeks 😱

The 6 month js from when you do the 1st application....then wait 6 months cooling off.. before submitting the conditional order. ...I submitted mine a few days ago. Have no idea how long it takes...

NearingTheEnd · 28/06/2025 22:23

@superplumb do 2 lots of 6 month waiting periods? I’m confused ?

OP posts:
NearingTheEnd · 28/06/2025 22:25

@Iwanttobreakfree2 thanks for that. So…
20 week waiting period
8 week further waiting period for conditional
another 6 week wait for final order?

yes OP this is the correct order now. my conditional order only took 3 weeks to be pronounced in court. i am in south wales and it was managed by the birmingham court - its outsourced to whichever court has capacity. i am now waiting for my Consent Order (finances) to be signed off before applying my final order. nearly there….. hope you’re doing ok x

NearingTheEnd · 28/06/2025 22:35

@EllaPepper wow I’d love it if mine only took 3 weeks! I’m in the West Midlands. What does OP mean btw?! I’ll be better once this is put to bed !

Mine took eight weeks. Applied for it 15 January and it was pronounced I think around the 12 th of March. I think that’s pretty standard. Then you have to wait six weeks and a day till you can apply for the final order (which comes back within a couple of hours, thankfully).

So in that 6 weeks ans a day..that's when we lodge the financial consent order?

Yes. As I understand it, you can’t begin to lodge the financial consent order until after the Conditional Order has been granted, and you’d be very very ill advised to do it after the Final order. (Because once you’re divorced it’s potentially much more difficult to sort out.) So it should be in between the conditional and final orders.
