I filed for divorce early Feb. I understand i need to wait 6 months from thjs date? Or is it when ex signs it and send it back?

We've got a draft consent order already but I camt finalise this yet as I'm waiting on whether I can get the mortgage..ive been told it should be OK.

Once I hear back from the bank do I just send the form to the lawyer who submits ot to court.

What happens next? Am I likely to be totally divorce and finances sorted by nov? No real reason other than it's my birthday so would like a birthday and divorce party!

The 20 week wait starts from when court issues your divorce not from when ex responds. So say for example they took longer than the 14 days or you had to get process server or deemed service this doesn’t actually delay process at all as the clock starts ticking once application has been issued.

FYI my partners application was issued 12th Feb 2025 and he had to apply for deemed service as had evidence ex got papers but wouldn’t sign and his deemed service application was accepted within 2.5 weeks… he can apply for conditional order 3rd July….

My prediction is allow 8 weeks from 3rd July when conditional order applied for (this is going by a lot of people’s time frames) then hopefully first or second week Oct 2025 he can apply for final order.

What date was your application issued?

Sadly and unfortunately the gov.uk site does not advise you of the wait period for conditional order to be granted they only tell you of the 20 week wait period then the 6 week 1 day… very misleading !

I think kine 22nd is when I can apply for the conditional order. Do you think everyone will be done and finalised by October including the financial if me and ex have agreed on thr money side.

It all depends on your financials. My partner has no financials to sort so he will be pretty much apply for final order the first date he can!

We do have financial we've agreed between ourselves but guess the judge needs to agree the split.

I think that comes down to the judge and depends how long consent orders are taking to be approved
