Do you have kids, a house, a mortgage, a job?

Skynorth · 22/02/2025 01:56

You haven’t said why you’re leaving but if you want to leave, leave first then go to see a solicitor and they can do all the communication.

Housewife565 · 22/02/2025 02:45

Yes 4 children

Yes 4 children

What ages? Are you a full-time parent with no outside source of income?

Housewife565 · 22/02/2025 02:48

Because I feel like I am not respected at home and understated as well and he is always telling me that I don't spend time with the children because I am always working he has given up work over 10 years ago and just sits on his ass watching TV all day

Are you or the children in any danger?

How do you think he'll react if you serve him divorce papers?

Housewife565 · 22/02/2025 03:06

Every time I tell him how I feel he changes then a few weeks it's back to how it is

You should see a solicitor first. You stand to lose a lot if you own property, have a pension etc. how old are the children?

Housewife565 · 22/02/2025 09:41

The house is jointly owned no pensions

You’re not really saying much op so it’s hard to advise

but if your children are young ( minors) and your husband doesn’t work there’s every chance he’d get primary residency status and possibly higher than 50% of house equity

you may also end up paying both child and spousal maintenance if your salary is high enough

hence you need proper legal advice
