I've started divorce proceedings. I'm struggling with money so doing as much as I can myself. I have been told to submit a form A. Me and my husband have come to an agreement. I'm not sure how this works but I'm presuming a court date. I dont understand what happens next there will be no mediation I'm exempt. I agree to his offer and the form A as I understand is so there is no clawbacks at a later date.
Do you have to submit bank statements etc . Can someone explain how it works. As I know if I go to a solicitor it will be a hefty bill and people do do it without one.

Try looking at Wikivorce, it's quite step by step on there

You need to complete a D81 and submit it with a draft consent order for the court.

Are you confident you have a fair agreement? Has it factored in pensions?

Bogfaerie · 05/01/2025 15:55

Yes but what's a consent order or an example of one .

The consent order is a legally binding agreement that you must follow once it is agreed by the court.

An example is here;

I would find the money to pay a solicitor to handle this element for you. The cost will depend on complexity but there are some fixed price providers out there. Good luck.

An example of a typical financial Consent Order

This example should help you understand the scope, content, and legal wording used in a Consent Order covering property, pensions, and other assets.

It can get very complicated but it's good that you have come to an agreement.
I can only speak of my own divorce proceedings which was tough given that my ex fought through a solicitor and a barrister for everything, much more money than me at the time.
At the third and final hearing in a family court the judge said split everything 50/50 and get on with your lives, she also told the legal vultures to "stop milking the cow", I will never forget those words.
Sorry I can't offer much practical advice other than the judge will decide what happens and not what a solicitor tells either of you.
For peace of mind I would say make sure you get a full and final settlement so neither of you can come back again if circumstances change.
Good luck.

Mine was approved by the judge with no questions. It was agreed between me and ExH and a solicitor drew it up and submitted.

I completed the D81 and explained the reason for the asset split.

I'm after a full and final settlement. I'm divorcing due to my husband wasting overspending and getting us in debt. Its to sever any future comebacks.

Do you both fill out this DX81 or just the me who is filing the divorce.
