Representing yourself in court

Hi
Can anyone give any advice? I want to ditch my solicitors because I'm just spending thousands. I have a first finance hearing next month and forms e have been exchanged. I have also got a custody case on and final hearing on that in a few months.

Am I now in a position I can just ditch the solicitors and perhaps go with a direct barrister at whichever hearings I need? I can't take any more money being spent. It's close to £25k. My ex and I just do not agree and he runs off to the solicitors every five minutes.

I want to use any money I have left for mine and my child's future living but at this rate there won't be anything left to get me anything.

Thanks

Yes do it. Solicitors just bleed you dry and get you nowhere.

@Mumof3confused thanks. How difficult is doing it alone?

The first two hearings I would self represent as the judge can't rule anyway. They can only give you an indication as to what might happen in the final hearing. I would get a barrister for the final one though.

Can you look into a mckenzie friend? They are far cheaper and support you in representing yourself.

It’s not that difficult if you have some legal support/advice in the background. The main issue is how time consuming it is.
