What if the proceeds of a house sale aren't sufficient for both parties to buy their own home? Two young children involved as well. The sale would generate about £300k but in London that isn't sufficent to buy two flats.
thanks

Something about the settlement @ThisQuickPlumFinch got doesn't make sense to me for that reason, @LemonTT Normally these days a court expects the weaker party to get their independence and sever ties. I cannot help thinking it was a settlement by consent (and one bound to blow up long before youngest is 18).

Well, it isn't a lie so what can I say? A divorce financial split is different in every case. I could have pushed harder but was happy with cash monthly rather than his pension and a larger part of the house when the Mesher order ends in 11 years.

Every case is different which is why solicitors get paid so much to sort it all out.

Best of luck and chose your battle when it comes to assets OP!

That sounds like this was a choice. Was this agreed via a consent order rather than forced through a final hearing?

Wouldn't I be allowed to say until the kids finish school?

That's unlikely. Your stbx would be entitled to his share too. You might both have to rent to provide a home for your DC.
