Help needed re future expenses

Hi

It's that point of the divorce when I have to fill out the spreadsheet of future expenses.

I don't have any experience of running costs for the size of house I'm hoping to end up in and my solicitor advised me to ask a friend with a house of that size.

I don't know anyone with a 3 bed semi detached. With two teenage children.

I was wondering if anyone of you who do would share with me annual costs for

Electric
Gas
Water
Council tax
Household insurance
And anything I may of missed.

Travel and personal care I'm fine with it's just the running costs of a different sized house. Going from a 6 bed Victorian with no insulation to a new build 3 bed is unknown.

I am south west uk

Thank you

I'm in a bigger new build and in Scotland so not completely comparable. You should be able to look at council tax bands of similar properties on right move and then look up the council rates for those.

My gas and electric are combined and I'm £230 per month for a household of 3. My water is included in my council tax.

My house insurance is just under £30 per month.

Remember to include broadband in your utilities costs.

It depends where you are.

Council tax is easy to find out. Just check your council’s website for the band you will be in. Insurance, just fill in a price comparison site with your new details.

I’m in a 1920s 3-bed. Two adults, two younger kids.

Dual fuel: £130
Water: £40

I'm in a 3 bed semi, not a new build though. 2 adults and 2 small children.

£150 energy and I'm a small amount in credit.
£30 water
House insurance £30

Insurance should be buildings and contents and you should include a sum for house maintenance (window cleaning, gutters, painting externals etc).

G&E is about £120 per month but I don't have the heating on very often in the winter.

Water is about £30

You'll be claiming single person discount on your council tax I'd assume. I'd budget around £175 per month but equally just check this with your local council website but remember to deduct 25% if you will be claiming single person discount.

Martins money has a great budgetting spreadsheet because it covers everything and will make you think of things. Be wary with new build about the fee for grounds maintenance you'll likely pay this can be anything but we pay about £28 per month.

Yes. Remember broadband, and I'd also include tv streaming services and annual Tv license.
