Has anyone used one and how long did the whole process take. I've just been reading up and think we will need one based on our circumstances. But the advice I have been reading says it can take six months or so for them to get all the info together and write their report. True?

Yes and it did take a long time. Easily 4/5 months. But we got it done in the end.

Do you mean an actuary? I think usual fee is 2-3K

I believe a PODE will be necessary for me too. Not actually filed for divorce yet but wondering when in the process to consult an expert - before or after filing, and if after, how far into the process?

Think of the divorce separately to the financial settlement. I would make the application for divorce, and start your mediation which will involve financial stuff including PODE if applicable.

In my case I started mediation. Then applied for divorce. Waited many months for pension CETV (nhs pension : had to make a complaint in the end as so slow) then when it finally came in the solicitors instructed PODE. The actuarial report came through after a few months just before I received the conditional order. Then it is just finalising finances before applying for financial consent order then hopefully final divorce order.

I'm a bit further down the road and so just learning this puts a bit of a spanner in the works re the timeline. But yes the divorce process is slightly separate to the financial settlement although it is advised that you have this in place before the divorce is finalised.

Ours took 9 months. It was getting the CETVs that was very slow, although I don’t think our actuary chased these up enough.
