Form D81 and accounts - Sole Trader

Hii

Going through the process slowly..

My wife's solicitor has asked to see the last 2 years' accounts to decide is my offer is fair

As a sole trader, does that mean the last 2 submitted tax returns which would be 20-21 and 21-22?

Or would I need to submit 22-23 early and then send her that (normally done on the 31st January :)

Would she expect to see the accounts breakdown as well from my accounting software or just the tax returns ( I do my own accounts so no accountant's report)

Likewise for form D81 - do I go off the last submitted tax return for my monthly average?

Many thanks for any help

I would say just your submitted tax returns, probably no need to supply accounts also. Basing this from when you apply for a mortgage, they just ask for tax returns if self employed. There is no reason why you can’t complete the 22/23 tax return now rather than wait until 31 Jan? I normally do mine in April!

Your self assessment can be done from the 6th April so you can do 22-23. 31 Jan is the deadline, not the target day!

Yes I know, that's why there was a smile at the end of my post.

Thank you both for the advice, much appreciated
