UC and being a single Mum

I would be very grateful of any advice from anybody who has been in this situation please. I am a sahm to 1 small child and have so far been living with my partner. We aren't married. After a stupid argument he is now threatening to move out. This is not the first time we have had problems but were making a go of it. My question is what financial help is there available to me? Would uc cover rent and bills? What do other people do in this situation? I can't see it being beneficial to try and get a job as childcare would be so expensive and I have nobody living close enough to help me out. I am really worried what will happen to us.

If u get a job UC will pay towards yr childcare so u will be better off (often 70-80% of yr costs).

Get a job
claim uc - which will help with childcare costs
claim child maintenance

It depends on the age of your child, if child is school age then you are expected to work and/or actively seek work in order to claim UC. As others have said there is also payment toward childcare available.

UC will pay up to 85% of your childcare.,As you are a single parent you’ll also get a work allowance so £379 will be disregarded before UC is reduced.

Do a benefits calculator based on your circumstances.
I work full time and get around £800 UC each month. It’s a big help.

Don't leave yourself vulnerable like this OP. Lots of single parents manage. Apply for as manage jobs as you can.

Does your DC already attend nursery?

yup get a job and back up benefits, never be financially dependent on anyone and working is well known to be beneficial for your mental health.
Make a claim for child maintenance through the CSA do not let your child’s father talk you out of his responsibility for his child.

If your child is 2 the job centre will put you in the preparation for work category and you’ll be able to claim 15 funded hours if your income is less than £15k for a 2 year old.
This will give you time to job search
