Married 10 years. 2 primary age kids. Both have always worked full time. Husband earns £45k, wife earns £125k. Assets of £1.2 million (including house worth £700k with mortgage of £100k left).

What do you think?

Op
He'll be laughed out of court with that expectation. Sounds like he is totally delusional.

The settlement should be consistent with whatever the law designates.

The law gives guidance and parameters, but is not prescriptive

It doesn't matter vey much what he wants, if he can't make a case to the Court that he fits the usual criteria used to award spousal support ,he won't be awarded support. He is in a lower position paying profession by choice and personal preparation.

His argument is no different than one that many women put forward in comparable situations. His family circumstances did not require him to remain in a lower paying profession and the family's combined income was sufficient to pay for child care when needed.

Many people live quite comfortably on a teaching salary.

£60k spousal is about £90k of the payers salary accounting for tax. Genuinely bonkers stance. £5k of "needs" a month. Is that figure from his solicitor or his head?
