Will Ex's job status change affect Child Maintenance

Hi All,

Happy New Year - To cut a long story short my Ex has his child maintenance payments deducted by his employer via a CMS order as he was PAYE.

He's changing employment status and becoming self employed as a subcontractor under a scheme called CIS.

It says "Under the Construction Industry Scheme ( CIS ), contractors deduct money from a subcontractor's payments and pass it to HM Revenue and Customs ( HMRC ). The deductions count as advance payments towards the subcontractor's tax and National Insurance."

I haven't heard of this type of employment before but will his new employer make deductions as before ?

I've googled and read so many different scenarios about this and understand that its difficult to chase for money if they are a ltd company - but perhaps this scheme is ok ?

Has anyone had experience with the CIS ?

xx

He is not a PAYE employee anymore. CIS is a scheme to deduct the tax of subcontractors. I don't think they can deduct CMS.
