Can anyone help re notice of severance?

I have received a draft divorce application form my ex husband .
I am having to self represent as I cannot afford solicitors (state pension only)
I am happy to proceed with divorce but he has also applied for a notice of severance.
Do I agree agree to this? Do I have a choice?
Back story is that we own the house jointly. No mortgage. No children.
The house has supposedly been valued but is not yet on the market.
He is dragging his heels on this.
My offer from him is 50% of the sale of the house. No claim on assets or his private pensions.
How do I proceed? I want either a bigger percentage or a share of (possibly hidden) assets. Since the house isn't even for sale how do I get a working figure to consider?
He now lives in the house. I am staying with relatives.

TIA

I know it’s really hard but you do need a solicitor. They will often give a free initial consultation. You can ask them directly how to keep costs down.

There may be some way of paying the solicitor once your house is sold. It is a false economy not to use a solicitor at all. Please believe me.

I cant comment based on the limited information you have provided. Extra information might include: ages, length of marriage, total assets, what each party brought into the marriage. etc. You don't have children so a clean break will be possible.

Why does he not want you to touch his private pension? Why do you not have one?

Please don't proceed without at least getting advice from a solicitor some of them offer a free initial 30 mins appointment where they explain their fees and what they think you need per your situation.

If you both agree to what is drawn up it need not be silly money.

My exh was difficult as possible and had promised me he would be if i continued through with a divorce so it sent the fees sky high but it doesnt have to be this way.

But you should get advice at the very least.

What you cannot afford is not to involve a solicitor, if you want the house sold you may check if the law firm want to take their fees from the sale of the house on completion. (They may not word it like that but ask for a deposit on the expectation the reminder will be paid on completion)
