Can anyone recommend a solicitor for an amicable no fault divorce. No finances involved, no pensions, savings etc and house to go to me (with young child) ideally in Basildon, Brentwood, Wickford, Billericay area please?

Id do it myself in your situation. It will be dead quick and cheap. Then get a solictor to do a clean break order, most do 'all inclusive' rates for them and its not expensive.

Definitely do it yourself. Will save you a fortune! I did mine, it's easy enough.

we used a company called amicable and paid between us

Don’t use a solicitor apart for things you absolutely need.
go to the Advise Now site and download their really helpful booklet at £20 a shot.
they are a charity run to make law accessible to people. The booklets lay out the process, what you should use solicitor for, what you might, and what you don’t need solicitor for. 5hey even link to a group of solicitors who for fixed fees will do just the tasks you need

Mediate is a very good site as well. Talks you through process

then the Gov Divorce site is really easy to use. Go onto that first and follow the links to understand the process. You can print or download the critical forms you will need such as D81 and form E so that you can start to go through those (ideally togther) and gather the info you need

you will need a solicitor to draw up your “consent order” (your financial agreement- it is a consent order if you agree between you vs letting court decide). into a legal speak draft. That can’t be submitted to court until the interim order (old Nisi ) and is then “sealed” by court at final order (older decree absolute). But the divorce petition itself you don’t need a solicitor for at all and very easy to do ( all online). We didn’t have dependant children but I would think you’ll need a solicitor to legalise whatever you agree in same way as a consent order.

I can’t recommend the Advise now guides enough

Should say solicitor will cost you £200 ish per hour even for basic advice. So the advice now guides at £20 are a bargin in comparison. When you use a solicitor be clear about the exact task you need them to do and don’t waste your money having ambling chats with then. Write down your questions before every discussion and stick to the point.
because I knew exactly what I needed solicitor to do I just used a local solicitor- she was fine and very happy to do just those task I asked for (consent order). Ex used one of the Advise Now solicitors just for the one task he needed- they were good for that. But I’d be really careful using on line solicitors just now - there are so many issues with solicitors full stop around back logs, time it takes, things getting lost in process. My view is that you need to be able to walk into the office and talk to someone face to face if needs be to ensure things are done promptly and without fuss.

Applied for the divorce online and paid the £593.
Financial consent order done by divorce online. Paid £599 (and £50 court application fee) for solicitor service (drawn up by solicitor so I could tick the 'taken legal advice box'). They were very quick, and very helpful. Judge queried our financial split (it was uneven but we had good reasons and were happy with it) and solicitor talked us through what to put in a supporting statement (no extra charge) and it was agreed the same week in court.
Whole thing cost £1242 and went through fairly swiftly and smoothly. Worked well for us because it kept it all amicable too.
