I left the family home a few months ago as it was toxic for myself and the children.
I own 50% of the house and have not come to a decision with ex DP what we are going to do with it should the split become permanent (which is looking likely)
I called the other day to get some belongings to find a letter addressed to me.
It's a solicitors letter saying the bank have instructed them to contact me and "they understand I am not an owner of the house but I am an adult occupier" WTF?
And it explains for me to get legal advice before signing as it will relinquish my rights to the house. It's called a indirect mortgage? We rang the solicitors who said they wouldn't speak to me only ex DP.
I rang him and he's swearing on the childrens lives it's a mistake, he was just trying to tell them I don't contribute financially and have moved out for the moment.. but the thing im to sign only has his name on as an owner?
He says it's a mistake and is saying he was hoping we could sort things out.
Would you believe him?

You can get office copy entries to check who owns the house. Costs £3 takes 10 minutes.

If you are not on the deeds, you need to talk to a solicitor ASAP.
