No fault divorce April 2022 and mediation

Hi all, my ex and I have agreed to complete a joint application for "No fault" divorce when it becomes available as an option in April. Can anyone tell me whether it is possible to apply online for a divorce, and if so how? I do have a solicitor, but trying to keep costs down, so I'm hoping I can at least do the initial application without involving solicitor.
Also, I'm aware mediation is always recommended to sort out financial agreements and parenting plan, but should I wait until divorce papers filed next month, or should we start now, and commence the discussions? I'm a bit confused about timelines for all of this. Any advice gratefully received, thanks.
Also,

Go here www.gov.uk/divorce you can apply online. Mediation for sorting the financials. Seeing as there is a short period before the no fault process goes live, I would start the search for a mediator before applying for the divorce.
It’s very straightforward.

Thank you 😊
Found a local mediation service.
So...apply for the divorce on the gov website, go to mediation to agree finances and parenting plan, apply for nisi, submit finance plan to solicitor to so draft court order doc, submit it after nisi granted, sell or buy out on house before absolute to avoid tax issues, and then get absolute. Does that sound right?
Oh, and then a big divorce party at the end!

But don't sell/transfer house until financial consent order stamped by courts

Definitely do not sell until the Financials have been signed off by the Courts.

Great, thank you. I think it's all starting to make a bit more sense now 😊

I recommend buying the book by Diana Jordan: dealing with divorce. She details the steps in a simple way.

You don’t need mediation for anything if you can agree and trust each other financially in terms of disclosure,
You just need solicitor to write up your draft consent order nil eBay speak and add it to your court divorce application.
Don’t need a book. Look at Mediate sight and a great free booklet from Advice Now on how to do your financial agreement yourself. Make sure you familiarise yourselves (both) of all of these and the very excellent government DIY website - print off all relevant forms and start to complete them , ideally together

We agreed house sale prior to divorce and sealed consent order.. sale completion went through about 15 days before decree final , about 35 days after exchange. Wasn’t an issue for us, he’d moved out and I had bigger share of house sale proceeds then him as part of my settlement so he was happy to leave me to dealing with the sale and completion. Depends on settlement and trust levels.
