Diy consent order

Has anyone gone down this route? Did the court accept it. We have a private arrangement, both happy but I'm being told I really should get a consent order, I've found a diy for £299 with a solicitor drafting it with our preorganised arrangements however I can't see why I can't draft it?

Seems a lot for a document that I have given the details for! We've filed online for divorce, just don't see the point of solicitors

I've read that judges just won't accept a DIY one.

You absolutely need to use a solicitor, and I'd be wary of an online service. It sets out the financial position of your divorce and can't easily be changed not challenged when granted

Even if you think you've agreed between you, a judge can still reject it. It's worth the money to get it done properly and make sure you're not being left in an unfair situation (even by mistake or because of poor drafting of the document).

My understanding is that unless each party has made full disclosure accompanied by each receiving independent legal advice, it makes it very unreliable. This isn't the sort of thing you want going wrong so I would suggest you suffer a d lay up but be reassured

Financial orders are pretty technical, you really should get a solicitor to do it.

£300 really isn’t a lot for someone to do something quite technical - no matter how straightforward you, as a layman, think it is.

We agreed ourselves and filled out the form e and got solicitor to review draft consent order. There was quite a lot I didn't think about like I have the right to request p45 every year for proof of earnings for maintenance.....

I paid about £1200 all in.

I had concern as my ex chose not to have a solicitor and he had to sign it saying he was aware he could have taken legal advice and chose not to.

I've paid for one of those fixed fee ones, about £300, via a recommendation on wikivorce. We've already financially separated completely so it was just to formalise it all. I looked at DIY too but you just can't.
