Divorce finances - what should I ask for?

Hi
So my STBXH has been having an affair for 7 months and left mid Jan. I’m just about getting over the absolute devastation.
We had been together for 26 years (married for 19.5). He has moved in with ... other woman.
We have a 16 year old recently diagnosed with epilepsy (week before I found out and he left!)
Anyway - I have a solicitor on the case but I don’t even know where to begin with the financial settlement. I have the Form E to complete. I just don’t know what to expect from all this.
Any advice is gratefully received.
Here is what I know so far
House joint name - equity about 60k. I’m living in it and he has proposed it stay like that til dd finished a-levels 2022.
We have about £5000 in cash in the joint accounts
He has hidden £2k in another account and used another £2k that he lied to me about for his new place.
He has about 50k in pension
I have about £4K plus a teachers pension which I am struggling to find the amount of at the moment. I reckon (if based on how much has been put in) £18k
He makes £45k, me £28k
Daughter will stay with me most weeks.
My mortgage is £850pcm.

What else is there I need to tell you?

What should I expect? He isn’t quibbling about child maintenance which I reckon is about £380 pcm. He isn’t happy about ‘paying for me’ though.

Help
Thank you

Hey Mama friend
I'm so sorry you're I this situation

I'd honestly wait to be guided by your solicitor but just make afew notes about things you think of or people suggest

Big hugs 🤗

LaurieFairyCake · 14/03/2021 23:39

I'd take £4K out the joint account to start with as he's taken 4K to set up his new life

LaurieFairyCake · 14/03/2021 23:40

How long have you been teaching? That's only a couple of years worth of pension

Have you been part time a lot?

MamaFriend · 15/03/2021 00:16

Will that go against me though if I take that money?
I’ve been teaching for 3 years.
Thanks

To be honest the solicitor is quoting £5k
Forgot to say- he also has a £15k ISA.

Well, if you settled it now, you’d likely get more than 50%. If you wait until your daughter leaves school to sell the house it will more likely be 50/50.
Pensions aren’t treated as cash.
How big is the current house? What is your mortgage capacity? If you could downsize how much would you need to buy somewhere smaller?
Spousal maintenance isn’t always awarded. You’d also need to factor in losing the child maintenance in a few short years.

Forget spousal on those incomes ( and disparities in earnings)
It’s a long marriage, starting point will be :50:50
You may receive more if you’ve been disadvantaged through child raising. But courts will be looking to achieve financial independence
You cannot ignore all pensions and will need valuation on them
Let your solicitor guide you

If its LGPS scheme then you'll need to fill in their form asking for cetv. They got back to me in a week or so (which is fast).
