Finances after divorce - How do you survive?

I was just wondering if any of you have gone through a divorce and how many of you were just as scared as me with regards to finances? I have been with my husband (soon to be ex) for ten years and was financially dependent on him due to having to work part time as I have a long term illness. Unfortunately the illness doesn't deem me as disabled and I do not receive any benefits for it. I have fibromyalgia although I am still able to work (part time). I am not being forced to work full time to cover costs and I am really scared how I am going to survive.

I will have to look for another job which is fine but I'm not sure if I can go for a job where by I will earn enough to support myself. My ex is helping me to buy a flat and I will have a mortgage to pay.

Its all so scary and I wondered if anyone could give any tips on how they managed to survive or make money savings in their every day lives etc?

Thanks x

Id rather take my chances than not have anything in place at all. To be honest we are not going through a bad divorce at all. Its all civil and we are like best friends. Someone could come along but the whole reason I put the thread up was to ask for money savings advice, tips or things people have done to help them financially thereafter more so than to get into the ins and outs of my divorce lol!

Would you be able to manage working full time from home op? So many companies are going fully remote now.

I basically sit on the sofa/bed with my laptop for 37 hours a week now, doing data admin. No commute or anything physically strenuous.

After lockdown we will only be required to go to the office one day a week.

Can you do those things as frequently as you need? No not as much as I used to be able to

As quickly as someone without your condition? Or do you have to rest afterwards? I have to rest afterwards and know my limits.

Can you repeat them as many times as you need? Consecutively? Depends if Im having a good or bad day.

Do you take rest breaks? My job is very active so I dont have time to take breaks

Can you do them every day? Do you have worse days? Yes worse days more often than not at the moment but that is down to stress

Do you use aids? Gadgets? Shortcuts? Readymeals? No

You can bathe and dress yourself but does it cause you pain? Do you have to avoid certain fastenings on clothes? No

Have you looked at all 15 ? And you don't meet any of the different levels in anything? No - I saw that they are done on a points system and I wouldve got 0 for all of them as I dont need help, I am still mobile but I get tired very quick or in pain but I can still do things by myself.

It's not just "can you feed/whatever yourself without help?" Yes/no. There are different thresholds depending on severity within each category.

If it affects you enough that you've had to work part time, how can it simultaneously not affect any of your daily activities at all? How does it affect you? I got far too tired too quickly and by the end of the week I would find I was in pain and having to spend the weekend recovering. Therefore I dropped two days so I could still work but not put as much pressure or strain on my body. I am on my feet all day in the job that I do

You might find the judge rejects the consent order OP if they have similar questions to the ones raised here. Can you demonstrate you have a solicitor acting on your behalf who is independent from your ex DH?
