Pension actuary recommendation?

Ex has a USS pension.
The cetv seems low compared to the pension he'd expect at 65.
Has anyone used an pensions actuary that they'd recommend? The cost has put me off before now. I'm worried I'm being greedy and antagonistic by appointing one. I'm also worrying that if I put the cost of the actuary (£2k?)into a pension now it might be worth more to me in the long run iyswim.

The cetv is based on its value now - not some date in the future when he's 65. How old is he now?

Ex family solicitor here. I used to instruct Actuaries for Lawyers. Some pension schemes are known to undervalue.

What are you hoping to do with the outcome? Pension share or offset against other capital?

Jim Sylvester of Collins Actuaries. About 2k (I think) split between me and ex. Ex had 3 final salary pensions and 2 DC pensions, I had 2 DC pensions. Ex’s final salary pensions were much more valuable than the reported CEV. Judge ordered pensions be shared to allow equality of income in retirement, I did very well and actuary costs were well worth it.

Off set against other capital so we get a clean break
